Indiana State Fair - $2 Tuesdays

Turkey Hill Dairy is sponsoring $2 Tuesdays at the Indiana State Fair.  Go HERE to download your $2 coupon, good on August 10th and 17th.  While you're at the fair look for the Turkey Hill Giant Cow to scoop up some free ice cream samples and coupons.  Also, from July 20 to August 5 the Turkey Hill team will be at various Kroger stores in Ohio and Indiana handing out free samples of ice cream.  Go HERE to find the dates and locations near you.

This year I've become very ambitious and register 14 culinary entries in the Open Class at our State Fair.  With only two days to get all my entries baked and delivered on time I hope I get it all done.  I will keep you posted and let you know the results.  Check out my post "A Fun Way to Save on Admission to the State Fair" for another admissions saving tip to the State Fair.

A Fun Way to Save on Admission to the State Fair.

I enjoy attending our State Fair every year. One of my favorite exhibits to visit is in the Home and Family Arts Building. I love to stroll through the aisles of displays and see all the wonderful crafts and food exhibits so much I decided to submit my favorite cookies. Participating in our state fair has saved me money the past couple of years. For $30 you can register for the Home and Family Arts Open Class and each exhibitor will receive 6-one day passes with a paid entry fee. Normally, regular admission to our fair costs $8 per ticket. Since I receive the 6 tickets with my entry, basically the tickets cost $5 a piece and if I win an award then its even more of a discount. The first year I came in second and received an $8 prize making my total admission cost only $22 for six people. The 2nd year I came in 4th place on two entries winning a total of $12 and saving us $30 off the regular admission of six.

I hope you enjoy this tip. I have so much fun every year at the state fair. The year I submitted my first entry was a hoot! I would have never thought I would have won with so many other entries submitted. And to come in 2nd place with a cookie no one in my family would eat (it was a honey oatmeal cookie made with no sugar) had us laughing and anticipating what I would make for the next year.
