TLC will be airing a show called Extreme Couponing on Wednesday, December 29th at 8:00pm Eastern Time. At first I was excited to see this show and hope it would show others how to save with coupons strategically. After viewing this news clip on GMA this morning, in my opinion this show is more about hoarding and not strategically planning on how to save money.
My intentions for having this couponing blog is to help others save money. I enjoy being a couponer and see it as a hobby that I can spend 30-60 minutes a night looking for the best way to save on groceries and other deals. Saving $1000 per year with grocery coupons is strategic but having enough toilet paper to last 40 years is hoarding. There are new sales every week so I don't think there is a need to buy everything on the shelf.
Here's a link to the GMA news clip about Extreme Couponing. It's good to see that GMA mentions that there may be a problem with those people featured in this show. Having a room dedicated to a hoard of grocery items? This TLC program should be featured on "Hoarding: Buried Alive".
